Weeknight Date: Baseball Edition

We were scheduled to go to a Nats vs. Tigers game this past Tuesday night, but when we got to our designated parking lot, we found out the game had been rained out, despite the fact that it wasn't raining. Perhaps the field got too wet over the course of the thunderstorms throughout the day...who knows? The game was rescheduled for 4PM on Thursday, so we made it a dinner-in-DC night and headed home.

Needless to say, we were really happy to finally make it to the game on Thursday afternoon! We had pretty good seats relatively close to the field, just over right field. There's just something about sitting back in that seat at a baseball game, waiting for the crack of the bat, watching the corny prompts on the screens, cheering at will, and eating that big, beautiful hot dog.

Here's to America's pastime.

Date Night at Our Favorite

No gym or cooking or cleaning for me tonight! Levi and I are headed to a local date night destination favorite: the Stone's Cove KitBar. What is a KitBar, you may ask? (It's ok, we asked too.) It's a Kitchen-Bar combo. That means there's no "back room" kitchen where you wonder if you're food is in clean hands. The service staff cooks and prepares all your food and drink right in front of you!

You'll notice from their Menu tab that they also operate based on the idea of "grazing" throughout meals, which means it's a PERFECT fit for us, because who doesn't love a good dinner grazing? They let you progress through your meal at your own pace and the portions are slightly smaller than most dishes at your typical restaurant. Which means you can try more than one thing or share multiple dishes with your date. It also means you can be there for 2.5+ hours and not even realize that much time went by. (Maybe that happened last time we were there?)

A couple of little tips from us "regulars" - 1) Make a reservation, because when you walk in the door you'll feel like the most important people in the world. They say, "Welcome Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman! We've been waiting for you!"And you walk straight to your seats, which have "RESERVED" signs on them. And 2) bottles of wine are 1/2 price on Wednesdays. So if you're in to that kind of thing, it's a delicious deal.

If ever we move from the Reston area, I want to take the Stone's Cove KitBar with me!
